Its natural habitats are dry or moist savanna, subtropical or tropical dry shrub land, intermittent freshwater lakes, marshes, arable land, pastureland, canals and ditches. This large frog, may weigh in over 2 kg approx 4.4 lbs. The African bullfrog is carnivorous and a voracious eater, eating insects, small rodents, reptiles, small birds and other amphibians, and has been known to bite. They emit a loud croaking sound.
