Song 1:40 Johnny Appleseed, born in 1774 as John Chapman, is one of our gentler folk heroes. He was a pioneer nurseryman who introduced apple trees to large parts of our northestern frontier. He headed west when he was 18, living on the land, showing kindness to animals, and scattering apple seeds. The true John Chapman died in 1845. Music is kids performing "Johnny Appleseed."
